I’m so buying this when I get my check. 0

I’ve decided on the Intel 875P chipset. It was a choice between all the chipsets that supported the mPGA478 socket, and it seemed like the 875P was the most recent before Intel launched the LGA775 socket, which I’ve read has twice as many pins. Motherboards cost about as much as I imagined, around $100-$200. I see this one with five PCI slots for around $100. I’m in love. It doesn’t say how many IDE hard drives I can install though. I want much room for expansion, so this can be a file server in the future. In a few years I’ll build a new system based on the Pentium 5. Hmm, I don’t know exactly what I want in a motherboard. I know I want a bunch of USB ports, a firewire port, and expandability to at least five drives. Hmm…you can’t connect many IDE drives, SCSI is the interface for if you have a bunch of drives. Hmm. Ultimately, I want:

1 ) a large hard drive
2 ) a CD-RW drive
3 ) a DVD-RW drive
4 ) a Zip drive

Well, I guess that’s four. I’m going with IDE. SCSI is really complex to set up. Whoa, this mobo has a “hercules” PCI slot with extra power, perfect for a SCSI card. SWEET. I like this motherboard:

http://store.yahoo.com/pcmemory-stores/aop4axmax87a.html

I’m going to have to see how many PCI slots I’ll need. Let’s see… this mobo has an AGP interface for a graphics card, so that takes place of the graphics card port

-audio card
-ethernet card (if not onboard)

Hmm, I guess I don’t need many PCI slots, but it’s good to have a bunch. I really like that mobo, maybe I’ll get it after I get my paycheck. No, I must get the case first, then the processor, then one of the RAM sticks, then the mobo, then the hard drive. Hmm..hard drive. I haven’t contemplated that yet. I’m currently on AGP video cards. I’m going to see if there’s one with a TV out so I can watch DVDs on it. I guess TV-out is out of the question. I need to get a big monitor. Or an LCD projector. Man, big monitors are expensive! And LCD projectors are around $1000!I’m talking to my mom on Yahoo Messenger on webcam, she thinks it’s so cool, which it is. I went out to climb the rope today and I couldn’t really get up it, I think my body is recharging from the five or six scalings I did yesterday. My mom is trying to burn a CD. It’s taking a while. I’m making a Yahoo Messenger avatar. I wonder if I’ll be able to make it look like me. My computer crashed. What a poo. Talked to Paul (dew_addict03) for a while, he is still stuck in Angwin with his parents, his personal hell. He’s an idiot. He has all these plans about going into the Air Force and shit because he’s a super, super-senior. It’s all bullshit. He’ll live with his parents until they kick him out. Lame.

I made an okay avatar for Yahoo Messenger. It doesn’t really look like me, but it doesn’t allow you to choose your shoes, and shoes are of paramout importance. It says it’s a beta, though, so they’ll be adding a bunch of stuff, supposedly. I wish someone cool was online. Charley isn’t even online, and he’s always on. I was hungry all day and finally gorged myself on the meat loaf we had for dinner. It was so damn good. Yay! Tawna just signed in! Yay yay yay! I kind of want to go to the river tomorrow, but if it isn’t sunny and or it’s windy it won’t be fun. Eh, next weekend. I have no gas. I’m going to get my oil changed with my paycheck, I hope that will make the “check engine” light turn off. I never have gotten the oil changed in my car, so I should have it done. Who knows how long the previous owners went without changing it. Oh my god, they saw The Day After Tomorrow. How insipid. I was expecting them to go Fahrenheit 9/11 and then launch into a diatribe about how corrupt the Bush administration is and was. But no. I guess an intellectually vegetative state is enviable, at least in America.

I’m bored. I need to be entertained. I need a 8 billion GHz-powered antigravity virtual reality space ship. I need sex robots, I need 24/7 entertainment, I need time travel, I need virtual reality chat rooms, I need my computer plugged into my nervous system, I need 24/7 edification, 24/7 entertainment and designer VR drugs. I need leisure trips to Venus, sex-hormone chewing gum, a legion of Gamma-caste slaves, a virtual karass. I need cyber groupsex, I need to never get tired, to never grow old, to never get sick. I need genetic engineering, I need designer genes, I need everything to be harder, faster, ever more entertaining, ever more deceptive, ever more interactive. I need the virtual world to outstrip the world of the “real.” I need the hyperreal. Baudrillard has me salivating for what will only happen in my childrens’ era.

I’m bored. Life fails to entertain me enough as the digital world does. I think I’m going to post this and then decide on which PC case I’m going to get. How lame, I posted this with BlogThis! and it didn’t work. Well, at least I don’t have to go through the effort of clearing this text document and starting over. That’s so tedious. I’m in love with this one case I saw one three websites, the X-Dreamer II (Black). I’m going to see how one adds these cold cathode things to the computer’s power system before I buy, because I want my computer to be all blazin’ blue on the inside. Cool, it’s like…a kit. Hmm. It’s really cheap. Whoa, you just hook them up to the power supply connector thingy–sweet!

South Park is on. I’m going to watch it. I’ve pretty much decided on a case and the lights. OMG…FashionTrance is on! It’s the best show ever! I love this one designer–Girbaud. They are so cool. Hmm…this CPU fan is so cool:

I’m getting it after I set up my system, to make sure it has the same specs as the heatsync and fan that comes with the P4. I should check out hard drives. I’m searching for a 250GB. Whoa cool, they have external FireWire 250GB drives. SWEET. Must be more specific. Internal drives. Hmm…$200. A little too pricy. Let’s try a 120GB. Hmm…around half the price, but I’m seeing all these less than reputable websites selling them. Let’s try something more reputable–Tigerdirect.com. Cool, I see a Western Digital ATA-100 160GB 7200RPM drive with 8MB buffer for $114. Sweet. I might buy that with this paycheck, I could attach it to the computers I have now. I think I’m going to get all the components I can use with my current computers first (case, RAM, hard drive) before I go to town on the mobo and processor. If Washington Mutual doesn’t suck up all my money in fees, I will probably be able to get the hard drive and the case. Well, maybe. It depends on how much I get paid. Well, I think I have it all planned out

P4 2.8GHz processor – $200
X-Dreamer II (Black) case with lights – $90
160GB hard drive – $120
Motherboard – $120 or so…depends on what I’ll relegate to a PCI slot and what I want onboard
RAM – $200 ($100 for each module)
CD-RW drive – $30
DVD-RW drive – $100
Monitor $120 (ball park–I’m not sure which kind I’m going to get)
Killer sound card with Dolby 5.1- $100

Well, let’s see how this all adds up. Below is the total for just the necessities to get the system running:

Around $660…wow! I was expecting a much bigger number!

Total, with all the toys included, and peripherals included (mouse, keyboard, etc.):

Around $1000

Which is what I wanted in the first place. But this computer will be ten times as cool as what I was going to get from Dell…omg, I should see how much this computer will cost on Dell! Sweet. Lol, the system that I’m going to customize to be like the one I’m making is already priced at $1200 dollars and it isn’t as good as mine. Lol, the Dell version of what I’m getting is $1400! Yay, I’m not getting ripped off! And mine will be filled with LEDs and pretty-ness. Hm…how many watt power supply should I get…I’m thinking 400 watts. At least I won’t have a lack of power. Oh god…this power supply has SEVEN molex connectors! MOUHAHAHAHA. I win. I win. I win. I win! I win! I WIN! I WIN! And it’s supposedly silent too! This is going to be the coolest computer ever. *EEK!* Oops…now I have to change my shorts.

Okay, must take a shower and go to bed. It’s one in the morning. Tawna and the gang are offline now, they left a bit ago. I need to call Molly tomorrow and we need to talk about the newspaper. I just don’t know what to do. Should we scrap this issue? We need to figure it out before summer session is over, because if we get our butts in gear we could revamp the flag and everything and have a cool new issue on the shelf by Fall session. IF we salvage about half of the stories, I really believe we could do it. I need to go in there tomorrow and fool around with Illustrator to design a new flag. I always start, then get exasperated with that program. I must persevere.

Oh, just before I go I have to say something. This song, OKGO song “Return” reminds me of Taggart. Whenever I listen to it I can’t help but think of him. OKGO, even though they are a pop band, they have great lyrics. Maybe that’s why they’re not mainstream.

OKGO – Return

“Now its years since your body went flat
and even memories of that
are all thick and dull, all gravel and glass
But who needs them now
displaced they’re even more safe
the worst of it now, I can’t remember your face.

Return

For a while, with the vertigo cured, we were alive, we were pure
The void took the shape of all that you were
but years take their toll,
and things get bent into shape
Antiseptic and tired, I can’t remember your face

Return

You were supposed to grow old
Reckless, unfrightened, and old,
you were supposed to grow old

Return

You were supposed to return”
