My RAM arrived! w00t!

My RAM was here when I got home! Yay!

Mike is singing my praises for doing the map stuff and everything, today he was all “I’ve got to take Molly out to lunch for recommending you.” I totally didn’t miss the new ATHF episode last night, which thrilled me. It was an episode with the guys from the moon, it was so funny.

Today Mike invited the circulation manager chick (the big-wig around there) for me to show her my map, and she was singing my praises as well. I hope something horrible doesn’t happen. I have nightmares that I saved my last map in RGB instead of CMYK. But I must put it out of my mind. They would have called me if it didn’t work. I guess. I think I’m going to buy a cell phone with the money from Amanda’s computer. OMG once I get the thermal compound I can turn on my new computer tomorrow!!!!!!! I just hope to god that the processor doesn’t melt. And that I didn’t fry the motherboard. I will cry if it doesn’t turn on.

Well, I brought Amanda’s computer to the Drift Office today and started it up and had Amanda format it again and install some programs, but I eventually realized that the floppy drive didn’t work. I didn’t think to test the drive since I never use floppies. I’ll fix it tomorrow. Well, attempt to fix it. And attempt to make my new computer work.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG ERIC GOT FIRED TODAY! It was SO ENTERTAINING AND FULL OF DRAMA. I knew something was happening because Stacey and Mike were in the office for a while…I knew when they get together that it’s bad news. Well, Eric came in with a thing of soda and was all normal, but Mike asked to talk to him. Stacey was kind of hovering around. I knew that it was going to happen. We started noticing the volume levels in Mike’s office increasing and increasing, and all of the sudden, BAM! Mike’s door went open and Eric went into the photo room. Mike was all “I don’t want you messing around in there” and he’s all “I have personal stuff in there, pictures…” But they shooed him out. John told me later that he was outside taking a break when Eric came out almost in tears. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost. The endless oceans of B-section white space overwhelmed my instinct for empathy.

It was so cool. They were shorthanded, so they had me proofread some stuff. I made $50 today, I was there until like 5 p.m. I hope my map looks dope tomorrow. Today Mike was all “Pretty soon he’ll be asking for a raise.” Pretty soon I’ll need one. Graphic designers (which is essentially what I’m doing) don’t get paid only 7 bucks an hour. He had me write some little brief about the blood bank, he wanted like four or five inches…it wasn’t that good of a lead. The blood bank needs more blood, and they’ll be at the Senior Center tomorrow. There, I can sum it up in a sentence. Oh well. I did it right before I left so he couldn’t bitch at me about it. Well, the map I did today was of the Mill Creek area, there was this gigantic accident right before the entrance to the Mill Creek campground. A bunch of people died.

OMG on my way home some bimbo in a minivan swerved TWO FEET into my lane when I was driving to the college on Pebble Beach Drive. Crazy bitch. I had to swerve to avoid her. I’m glad I didn’t hit anything, though.

Amanda’s stepdad totally lied to her, he said he’d get her a desk and get her a flat screen monitor but she called him up and he was all “You’re going to have to wait two or three weeks.” Lame. So I guess it was kind of a good thing that the floppy drive didn’t work.

I’m bored. I’m going to go make some food. I can’t wait to go on our trip. I have like $70 in the bank and I will soon have $120 after I sell the computer to Amanda. That really isn’t very much since I still have to buy my books. I should buy my books before I go on the trip. That would be prudent. Well, for once I won’t have much money and everyone else will. I hope people let me borrow some money, I get paid on the 31st. I think since I have a job people would be much more willing to lend me money. I guess it all depends on how much my books are. Tomorrow after work I’m going to go to the college to drop RT and sign up for drama. I will only have to buy the books for history (yeah right, it’s an Owen class) and art. So actually I will have a bit of money for the trip. Not much, but enough for my part in a hotel room and at least a meal. Okay, my wrists are killing me. Must go.

But before I sign off, Molly, we did work on the flyer thing and I think we made a cool one but we didn’t know exactly when the meeting will be. Oh, and we need a color cartridge for the Drift printer.

I’m outta here

Did another map for the Triplicate, I’m getting out of here.

blogging and letters

Uncategorized — A. @ 12:20 pm

The only way I can usually call people is to blog while I’m doing it. So here it is. The first letter is from a Roger S., he’s talking about the elections. Wow, they were sure nice! Nice old people…it’s a strange and wonderful phenomenon. Next up is this Beatrice W. who I’ve been trying to get ahold of for about a week. She lives in some random city somewhere. I keep getting the answering machine, and she never calls me back. Depressing. I got a nice answer from the next dude, John M.

letters

I really loathe doing letters, only because I have to call crazy people up and talk to them. There’s only three today…which isn’t so bad. You know what really sucks? When Mike makes me start using Eric’s computer, I won’t be able to blog. That will totally suck. GRR. I really don’t think that it will work to share a computer. I’m here for about an hour while Eric is here, most days. It totally won’t work.

at work, making another map.

Hello,
I’m at work making another map for tomorrow’s paper. There was this gigantic accident near the Mill Creek Campground, and Mike wanted to show the readers where it was. It’s around 12. I have a feeling I’m going to be here for a while. I made a cool map, and like…almost finished it. But I was all “Wait a second…this is taking entirely not enough time. You should be paid well for making these maps…at least two hours. It was not done by any means but it was getting there WAY too fast. So I’ve decided to work on my normal work for a while. I have a bit of an upset stomach today, it’s not putting me in the work mode. It’s putting me in the map mode, but not work mode. I’m calling the Drift Office. Nobody was there. Must get to work and do letters, my most odious task. I hope Amanda is at the college today, I have the computer in my trunk and everything. I don’t remember whether I brought the backup CDs though, without those all is lost. Well, not really, but it’s not very convenient.
