BACKUP RESTORE DEFAULT SYSTEM!!!!!
I just got this e-mail from this lady from the Fish and Game advisory COMMISSION, she is VERY concerned that I used the word council instead of commission. Aren’t they almost the same thing? And, to inbred Crescent City-ites, they are the same thing.
I just get here, have a nice leisurely conversation with Mike, then I start archiving, and the damn phone rings. And it’s the guy from the college bookstore (as he revealed later) saying that the “Salmon, steelhead season opens on the Smith” story we ran today was a fabrication and that the season has been open for months. The byline read “Staff report.” I bet Mike wrote it.
The “Are you stoned?” chick actually read the stories we were working on, which was good. We had a quiz today, I can’t remember whether I wrote my name on it. I’m conditioned to look for a line saying “name.” Hmm. We also worked on a group precis for Raymond Carver’s “Neighbors.” I really should rendezvous with Amanda after I get off work (hopefully she’ll be at the meeting later today) and look over her notes, we’re having a quiz in Intro to Theatre. And I want to read Lysistrata, so I’ll have already read my part by the time I have to read it in class. Well, I should probably get going over to work, I’m leaving at 12:30 for an hour, so it should look like I’ve been there for a few hours before I leave. Molly heard us talking about Don and rebuked us for gossiping, so we’ve decided to rename him “Polly” from the word he made up to sound smart, “poly-neo.” Making nicknames (especially about crazy people) is such an enjoyable activity. I need to write my precis. I don’t think it will be difficult. I was going to do a precis of “Taking Care,” since I read it a while ago. I’ll skim all the stories and choose one. We’re going to Eureka/Arcata this weekend, I can’t wait. The Drift meeting is at 12:30 today, we were saying that we hope Polly doesn’t show up; I say if he does he’d better be sporting a new ersatz vocabulary word. Okay, I should go. I’m getting tired.
OMG. My record player needle AND my 200GB hard drive both shipped today! WOOT!
