totally inexplicable

Me and Joe had the coolest night ever. I was going to go home and get some food after Sammie and I went to the beach, but I saw Joe and the crew in the student lounge, so me and Joe went over to Josh’s house and I made a sandwich and Joe may have sampled the gin. Econ was entertaining, Joe like snuck under the cameras to go out to use the bathroom, it was so funny. And I could have done the practice test in my sleep.

After we gave Naiya a ride home, I went to Safeway to get some food for the house sitting next week, and then we went over to Josh’s house and did his dishes (it was a very strange night) and then we made margaritas and I put on Buffalo ’66. We both loved it. I hadn’t seen it in so long that it was like seeing it again for the first time. After the movie we were bored and ended up trying on Josh’s ties. I couldn’t help but be reminded of Raymond Carver’s “Neighbors.” Through the whole night it was like we were roomates, and we kinda came to the realization that we’d be perfect roomates, except for that we’d never get to sleep. We played around on the computer for a while and it was around two, so we decided to go. We went to the pier, then back to the college.

We went around the nature trail once, and were talking at our cars when a cop car pulled into the parking lot across the street. We were kinda freaked out since we may had been drinking (me very lightly, Joe a bit more heavily) earlier in the night. It was SO FREAKING INEXPLICABLE. First the cop car flashed its lights (the whirly flashy lights on the top of the car) and turned them off, then they made the car make the “whoop” kinda siren noise. The funny thing was we’d just gotten done with a big “cops are evil” speech, and it was like they’d been cued to appear. I was very irate, and I wasn’t going to walk all the way (200 feet or so) across the college and high school parking lot to talk to some stupid cop. They were going to drive over to where we were, or we were just going to stand there and chitchat. This went on for a while, but I was careful to realize that it was a bad idea to get in the cars. In my mind it was to avoid DUI tickets, but in reality I guess it made the cops think we weren’t suspicious. If we’d leaped into our cars and sped away, I think they would have had a different impression of us.

We weren’t moving. The cop wasn’t moving. And then came the second car. They drove right up to the first car, and then they turned on their siren for a good minute. Then they both started driving. Were they going to come over and talk to us? No. They just drove out of the parking lot. It was sooo strange, we had to walk down to the nature trail bridge to collect ourselves (I was a bundle of nerves after that experience). But anyway, I simply had to blog about that. And tonight was so fun and cool. Joe is really fun/cool. I hope I meet more people like him. That are gay.
