This is my first night house -sitting for Josh. I brought over my computer and hooked it up to Josh’s big screen TV. It has shitty resolution (text is almost illegible) because it’s a TV, but it’s not so bad. It’s better than nothing. It’s kinda cool. I hooked up the optical output of my sound card to his surround sound receiver. That’s pretty cool too. We were up sooooo late last night that I slept until 6 p.m. Well, me and Ben started hanging out last night at like ten or eleven, we went to see if they were really having this party I’d heard about at Endert’s Beach, it turned out it was just some emo kids getting drunk and having a bonfire. We didn’t actually go up to talk to them, we just studied them from the bushes until we were sure they weren’t the people we thought they were. On the way back we shined the flashlight down at then and then ran back the the car. It was more amusing than it should have been.
After that we went over to The Maze and were accosted by some weird hobo that kept chanting “maze rats [indistinct mumbling] maze rats [more mumbling].” Looking into the windows of one of the buildings, we saw someone had a screen saver that said “Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” I wonder why. Hmm. But anyway, after the hobo encounter we went over to the movie theatre, and we soon saw Amy, this girl that stopped by that night me and the coworkers hung out at Matt’s. It turns out she works at Circle J with Ben, so they hit it off. The movie they were seeing got out and then like everyone I knew in Crescent City went by. It was the Matts from my work, Charley, and that guy Richie that came over to Josh’s house and watched The Wiz in complete silence. But yeah, too many people I knew. I introduced Matt to Ben, and we all kinda stood around in a circle for a bit, then dispersed. Selena and Misty came out and we started talking to them too, then after a bit Josh locked up the theatre and we all went our seperate ways.
I asked Ben if he’d come over to my house while I packed to come over to Josh’s and he was cool with that. It took a while, but I packed everything up and we piled in the car and came over. I set up my computer and everything, and we hung out. Ben loved the little Mac OS X toolbar I put on my computer. Oh yeah, I forgot to blog about this…I downloaded a bunch of programs to make my computer look like Mac OS X (too see if I would hate the interface) and I loved it. I loved it so much I put the taskbar at the top of the screen and exclusively use the OS X bar. Well anyway, I guess we watched a movie for a little bit, and then Selena stopped by and hung out for a while. We had a lot of fun but it was the middle of the night so I don’t really remember much of what happened, except for that Ben and I had a long conversation lamenting over the lack of dateable guys in C.C. I drove Ben home, went back to Josh’s, and almost immediately fell asleep (it was like 6 a.m.)
Today I woke up at six, and my mom had to call every fifteen minutes like she always does. Yay, Charley just signed on. I get so lonely in this big empty house. I hate how my dad always does his thumping zombie walk around the house, but I guess it’s better than silence. I got my clothes all ready to wash, and then chickened out on going out to the washing machine place, but right then Ben showed up, so I was all w00t! So we went down there and I put them in the washing machine. We came back and I put on Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which really wasn’t so bad. Ben hadn’t seen it, so that’s why we watched it. Just as a side note, if my posts this week are riddled with spelling errors, I haven’t suddenly developed illiteracy, I’ve just been typing them out on a TV.
Anyway, before the movie we made non-alcoholic margaritas (which were delicious), and then after the movie I offered to make sandwiches. I was out of bread, so me and Ben went to the store and I picked up some soy milk too while I was there. After we ate the sandwiches, we read some of John’s blog (to our delight) and then realized that it was like 11:45 and Ben had to get home (his drivers’ license expires at midnight). So yeah, after that I got out Josh’s AOL disc and a long phone cord and went to town. I should IM Charley. Yay, we’re talking. I should post this. Oh, and to random person that commented on my blog, who’s our mutual friend?
