> Miss Kittin and the Hacker – live at WMF Berlin (I would give my right testicle to go to that concert)
I haven’t been writing much lately because I’ve been obsessed with my new tablet. I brought it to work today thinking that it would alleviate all of my wrist problems, but I’ve come to realize that it’s not my mouse that’s doing it, it’s my unergonomic chair. It does really cut down on the muscle strain on my hands though. Instead of all the effort it takes to click a mouse button, I just tap the pen to the tablet to click. Also, I was playing around with the handwriting recognition features in Mac OS X at work and it was freaking amazing! You can turn on this feature called “Ink” and if you want to put text in a box, instead of having to put down the pen and type with the keyboard, you just write in handwriting on the tablet (it shows up on this little floating notebook paper that scales to fit whatever you write) and it converts it into normal editable text! You have to see it to truly be wowed. For all of you Microsoft-ites, Office supposedly has a handwriting feature but it looks like it was designed by a dyslexic 12-year-old. For one, it crashed every program that I tried to put text into. For two, it can’t extrapolate spaces between your words, as in OSX’s Ink. Also, it only has this little tiny area to write like two words before it recognizes them, where in Ink, the place you write looks like notebook paper and scales to fit whatever you write, no matter how long. Anyway, on this front, Apple: 1 Microsoft: 0.
Anyway, I talked to Brian today and apparently I’m going down there Saturday after my class to see him. He’s only going to be free for like five hours but I guess five hours is better than nothing. I think I’m going to be incredibly tired, what with this crap of staying up until 3 a.m.
Joe called me on Skype about 45 minutes ago and we had a good talk. He has to get up in the morning too.
Oh, last night Kevin suggested that we go over to the house of this guy that he knew that was really cool. I can’t remember the guy’s name for the life of me, but he was incredibly cool. He was deeply knowledgeable about computers, read Kurt Vonnegut, loved Stargate SG-1 and had an Xbox modded to run Linux. However, for some reason he wants Steve Jobs to die. I don’t really mind either way, Apple will still come out with amazing products whether Steve Jobs is there or not. Anyway, I was on the phone with Kevin earlier and the guy told me to make a drawing of Steve Jobs getting crucified, and the result of that is the PDF in the previous post.
In other news, I installed Diablo II (one of my favorite games) again to see if I could play with the tablet, and I actually could! I must not play it though because I will blow out my wrists if I do. I know there’s more I wanted to talk about, but I just can’t remember because it’s too late. I need to get some sleep so I can be more eloquent tomorrow.
