Yesterday was…odd. I spent the night over at Adrian’s house and was SO late getting to work. I had to walk all the way back home in the freezing cold…not a wonderful way to start the day. I rode my bike to the bus stop this time, and I have to say that it helped me get there much faster than walking. I think it cut my total transit time by at least a half-hour.
I’ve been using this cool service called Meebo to keep in touch with people I’m making plans with (usually Adrian). You go to the website and sign in and it signs you in to all your IM services (AIM, Yahoo, Gtalk, etc.) inside of a web interface. It’s quite handy when you’re away from your home computer.
Well, after I got off work I was going to go home but as I was waiting at my train stop (I stayed at work WAY too late…it was pitch dark when I left), Christen called me and asked if I wanted to go out to eat with her. I met her at the Alhambra Safeway and after a while, we did fit my bike in her car (I had to take off the front wheel). We went to Arden Fair and looked at clothes (I got the most adorable and warm scarf, I’m in love with it). She also introduced me to her friend John, who I had kind of sorta met at the club but didn’t want to say hello because as fate would have it, the only time I was near enough to say hello was when we were in the bathroom.
Me and Christen ate at Fresh Choice (a first time for me) and we totally pigged out. We must have had like five courses. My meal was something like $15 because I ordered a beer ($5 or so), but I love ordering drinks! The novelty totally hasn’t worn off yet!
Well, after that I went over to Christen’s. We were going to watch a movie, but Christen ended up talking to her new boy (sorta..) Anton, and I was reading the novel that Sex and the City was based on. As 11 p.m. rolled by, I realized I had to get home. I took my bike out of the car, said goodbye to Christen, and pedaled home. It was quite a workout, but I did it. The main annoyance of the ride was my stupid sachel getting in the way. You can’t wear a messenger bag while riding a bike. I need to get a backpack.
Anyway, things aren’t going so well with Adrian. I hope that things go better today.
I was going to take the super-early bus (9:14) this morning, but right as I was getting up my stupid drunken uncle John came in (or at least I think it’s him), and has been in the bathroom ever since (it’s now 9:25). I’m going to go rap on the door and make him get the hell out of there. God, he is such a loser. I hope I never become like him.
Randomly, I downloaded this application called X-MasTree to get me in the holiday spirit. It makes a Christmas tree on your desktop with blinking lights…it’s so adorable! Obligatory screenshot:

I don’t know what’s going on today…I was going to take the bus home this morning (I slept over at Christen’s house), but it is raining like hell. Christen called in sick to work today…she’s sleeping in the loft bed above the computer.
I still feel really lost today. Someone’s selling a Palm TX on craigslist for only $150…if I had any spare money I’d pick it up, but I don’t. I had better buy an umbrella…it’s going to suck to walk to the bus stop in the rain on Monday.
I’ve been shopping around the web for 23-24″ displays, and they are all out of my price range ($800 or so). I’ve also been looking for another hosting company for my website. I only get 2GB of space on this host, and although they have been ultra-reliable, I am out of space and need more advanced features like PHP5 and WebDAV. The prospect I am most interested in is DreamHost, although they supposedly have a lot of downtime. I’ll switch for a month, and if I get any downtime, I’ll go right back to my old host.
Well, I guess I should go out into the living room and call my mom or something.

Me and Christen heard the fucking weirdest thing EVER on the AM radio at like 2:50 this morning. This guy was giving this list of all these weird coincidinces like twins feeling the other die, feeling like you’ve met someone before, etc…then he’s talking about being naked and the taboo about it…”they never feel like ‘whoa, I’m naked’…” and ends with “So these are some of the things to keep in mind if you ever see someone be abducted by a UFO.”
No freaking joke.
We went out to Lyon’s in East Sac and I had a Merlot and French toast…I wanted to invite Adrian but I had no way to get ahold of him. I kept trying to get ahold of him all day and it just didn’t work because his phone was dead.
I think he’s mad at me.
All the family left today and my grandma is leaving tomorrow at 3 a.m. for her week-long cruise to Panama…I’m going to have the whole place to myself.
I feel terribly lost lately…all I’ve been doing is transcoding my DVDs to MPEGs so that I can watch them on my computer. I’ve been ripping them and adding high-res cover art…I’m obsessed with cataloging things…maybe I should be a museum curator. Maybe I could work for archive.org or Wikipedia.
I’m at Christen’s right now…we’re talking. I should go. I wanted to go get tested tomorrow but that’s not going to happen.

I’m over at Adrian’s house…we’re going to watch L.I.E. tonight…and I don’t know what I’m doing tomorrow. I got my sexy 500GB drive today and it’s all set up and all the backup whirlymagigs are all copying and syncing my files. It said it would take like 6 hours to copy the 200GB of data already on my other drive, so I’m glad I’m out doing things while my computer slaves away. It’s sort of like having a personal assistant.
I’m still not quite sure what I’m doing on my birthday, but I’m sure things will work themselves out. Grammie is going to be gone all day tomorrow, so we’re going to do something on Sunday. Oddly enough, I talked to my relatives Art and Marian out in Placerville (my grandpa and the lady he remarried) this morning…they are going to come and visit me soon, and they said they sent a card. I guess my grandpa isn’t doing so well lately…he’s losing his eyesight and such. I need to get a car and go visit them before it’s all over.
Work really sucked…I was only there for like three hours due to a transit mix-up…and the fact that it gets dark really really early now that Daylight Savings Time is in effect.
I’m in LOVE with my new drive. It boggles my mind that 500GB can fit in that adorable, brushed aluminum enclosure. It makes my old drive look antiquated and ugly. I’ll put pictures up soon. I really want two of them, so I could RAID-1 them and have truly fault-tolerant storage. And I’d like a portable 80 gig drive to mirror my internal hard drive so that it’s also RAID-ed. Eh, I should probably pay off my credit cards. I got within $40 of my limit this pay period. I never thought I could be so broke. However, I’m sure I’ll get copious birthday loot!
Next on my list is a Palm TX with portable keyboard…and a huge display. Eh, I’ll never pay off my debts. I love stuff too much.
Speaking of cool stuff, my friend Tamora sent me a whole package full of canvases! I can’t wait to start on them, but I’ve been oddly busy…not with work but just with…well, actually, I’m not sure what I’ve been so busy with. I haven’t had a whole weekend to just fool around on the computer for a while. That’s penciled in for next weekend. I can’t wait to play around with the sweet new prerelease software I downloaded earlier in the week. Once all my stuff is sufficiently backed up and redundant, I’m going to have so much fun exploring the new OS I downloaded. Well, I should sign off. I’ve been trying to get ahold of Kelly…I guess I should give her another call.
In other news, that douche hat I met at Kelly’s party keeps calling me…he wants me to fix his computer, but it’s totally a ploy. *turns phone off*
Tomorrow should be extremely fun! And even if it’s not in the traditional sense of booze and babes, it will be in the sense of sexy prerelease software dripping with bleeding-edge as-of-yet untested features.
Me and Adrian are going to get sushi at Rice Bowl tomorrow, that’s about the only plan I have so far. That should be delicious and fun.

I woke up at the right time and hit snooze. I woke up an hour later, and my alarm had not gone off at all. I hate using my cell phone for an alarm clock. I’m glad my dad’s bringing my snazzy touch-screen CD playing alarm clock down on Thanksgiving.
On the bright side, my sweet new 500GB drive is on the FedEx truck for delivery, and I get paid today!
I am extremely broke…I’m back to that level before I got a job. But I suppose it’s not so apocalyptic now that I have a way to pay it all off. Maybe. Well, I need to get ready to leave. The next bus is at…oh wait, it’s not for another hour and a half. God I hate public transit. This is another of those days where I’m going to get there at like 12:30.
If only I had a car, I could be there by eleven.

I just installed a trial version of the next (but not newest) version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I think it is more accurate, but is that added 5% of accuracy worth a hundred bucks?
I don’t really know. However, I finally got around to selling that old computer case of mine on Craigslist. Some guy is offering me 70 bucks for it. I’m definitely going to take him up on that tomorrow. Should I spend it on the new version of Dragon? I know it’s going to come in handy come schooltime. God, it almost gives me wet dreams writing papers using this software…it’s so EASY! I can write like two pages in about 20 minutes. I put in zero effort, and get As. Sounds like usual. Well, I need to get to bed. I have a feeling that I’m going to be chastised at work. I’d better get there ridiculously early. God I can’t wait to get paid on Friday. I am SO broke.
