One day we’ll live together and life will be better

I had so much fun today!

Work was, well, mediocre. I was the only one in the office, and as I was doing the email there was this thing…finding out that people in your office are homophobic is really weird. It’s like being black and learning there’s a KKK stronghold around the corner.

I dunno. It’s just scary.

But I got a lot done, and then drove to Brian’s house for the iGasm that was the iPhone release hoopla. We actually totally missed the launch and everything, but Christen said there was a huge line. I did get to play with one, and it was friggin’ amazing.

But personally, it doesn’t have key features I need:

  • 3G mobile Internet
  • Much, much more storage. 8GB isn’t cutting it when I can barely cram enough songs and videos on my 30GB iPod.
  • The web browser was awesome though, it was a really cool phone. I already have a phone that can do almost everything that the iPhone can do though, so it wouldn’t be much of an upgrade for me. And definitely not an upgrade worth $500. I’ll get the second generation iPhone with 3G and more storage.

Anyway, Brian and I had a great time walking around the mall area. I bought The Haunting of Hill House again (I swear, I’ve bought that book like fifty times ’cause I always loan it to people), and I got Interpol’s Turn on the Bright Lights. I ripped it into Apple Lossless, which means the computer plays it bit for bit as it is on the CD, and the quality difference was amazing. I felt like I was listening to it for the first time again.

I also pre-ordered their new album (I forget what they’re calling it) on iTunes. It comes out in a week or so.

After Best Buy, Brian and I got food at that Japanese place we like in the food court, then we went to the Apple store so I could ogle the iPhone. Then we went to the Nordstrom’s coffee place (which I had no idea existed) and got delicious coffee/smoothie stuff.

Best Buy again to get a CD Brian’s mom wanted, looking desperately for Goldfrapp DVDs, and then to Barnes and Noble to look at astrology books. They didn’t have anything by Simone de Beauvoir except for The Second Sex. I’ve been dying to read The Mandarins ever since I read about it. I’ll have to get it online. The clerk was really disappointed too…he was all “Gosh, this is a bookstore, you’d think we’d have some of Simone’s stuff.”

I love people who are on first-name terms with existential authors.

After the mall, we got orange smoothies and went back to Brian’s place to watch YouTube videos and awesome Adult Swim stuff on Joost. It was my first time really using Joost, and I must say even on Brian’s rather old computer, it was freaking awesome. I can send people beta invites if you’re interested.

But it’s nearly four thirty a.m. so I must be going. Tomorrow I get to wash all my clothes. All of ‘em. I’m on my last pair of underwear and socks today. :)

Oh, I was hovering over the “publish” button thinking I’d forgotten something. I did. Drew and I are now like, officially dating. I am very excited about the “us” after last night. We had so much fun! We cuddled and watched Murder, She Wrote. Isn’t that the most romantic thing ever? Well I think it is! :)
